What I Read on January, 2018
A log of what I've read/watched with short review.
- 2018-01-11 The case of the 500-mile email.
It’s just a very cool story about speed of light and software engineering :)
- 2018-01-06 Introducing Conduit.
Alpha-version of Conduit, a service mesh (like Envoy). What is funny, it’s done by company that
developed Linkerd (another service mesh). Apparently, JVM overhead is too big for a service mesh.
- 2018-01-06 Lyft’s Envoy: From Monolith to Service Mesh by Matt Klein.
A good introduction to Envoy. Must be written in Rust, but at least not in node.js :-P
- 2018-01-06 Don’t Build a Distributed Monolith by Ben Christensen.
Apology for not using fat clients and libraries. I have only one objection, that it’s possible in an organization to actually
use libraries for performance reasons, but there must be tooling around it to be able to deploy fast all services
that depends on a library. And it’s also hard :)
